To know Christ, grow in Christ, and share Christ's love.
I am so grateful to all the lay leaders of St. Matthew's
responsible for "hosting" our Sunday morning Adult Education classes. We
have made a fine start since we began this new format on January 15, 2006.
Remember, our goals are to create relationships that do not now exist;
to bond and strengthen the Body of Christ on Sunday mornings; and
to raise the expectations of one another - that we desire and strive to
learn about and share our faith. The classes below are excellent and
compelling. Come and play your role in adult education at St. Matthew's.
Faithfully, Merrill
Fellowship time from 9:15 - 9:30 a.m. Classes from 9:30 until 10:15 a.m.
In Huffman Hall - Living What We Believe in Every Area of our Lives
Host team chairs: Andrea and Keith Miller
This class will use St. Matthew's Mission Statement to discuss each aspect
as it applies to our lives, relationships and behavior in our families,
friendships, workplaces, community and Church.
In the Choir Room - Early Christian Music in our Spiritual Lives
Host team chair: Tim Smith
St. Matthew's Music Director, Tim Smith, has prepared curriculum that
provides details on the early Christian music we all enjoy so much.
In the Basement, in Room B-14 - Practicing the Inner Spiritual Life
Host team chair: Kelley Meyer
We recognize that each of us is a pilgrim on a journey to discover our "true
self" in Christ. We seek to form a Circle of Trust for prayer, meditation,
study and honest, compassionate sharing that will facilitate a closer, more
loving relationship with our Lord Jesus, our classmates, our Church, and
community.
In the Basement, in Room B-21 - Exploring the Sunday Bible Lessons
Host team chair: Clive Smith
Sometimes in our everyday lives, the Bible loses priority to make way for
prayer, interpersonal growth and present day living. This group focuses on
the Bible as a foundation for all these other aspects of our lives. We are
beginners and intellectuals alike, all learning that we can apply these
teachings whenever and however we find them. Please join us!
In the Basement, in Room B-18 - Family Life
Host team chair: Scott Murphy
Our individual lives fit together like pieces of a puzzle, interlocking to
create relationships which can be a rich source of love and grace.
Relationships also present challenges that sometimes distract us from living
the life God calls us to - caring for one another and sharing the love of
Jesus. Please join us as we build friendships and embark on an interactive
journey exploring the dynamics of Family Life.
Adults with children are asked to arrive at church no later than 9:15 so
that children may be taken to their classes or nurseries prior to the start
of Adult Education.
