Each year, the St. Matthew’s Sages Program gathers and shares stories from members with long and loving life experience. A volunteer team works with the Sages to learn about their backgrounds, conduct video interviews, and then write a short version of their life stories. Along with the joys of their family lives and careers, we hear stories about challenges, accomplishments, and lessons learned. We get many pearls of wisdom. While some of our senior members may appear to be quiet and unassuming, we always find tales of truly amazing character!
We feature several members of St. Matthew’s in each of our Sages Celebrations. On a Sunday afternoon we share printed copies of their stories, show small segments of the video interviews, and have the Sages display and describe significant photos and other interesting memorabilia. Views of the events we’ve held to date can be seen in the photo collection on this web site. After each celebration, DVDs with the full interviews of the featured Sages are placed in the St. Matthew’s library, where they can be checked out for viewing. We put extracts of their stories into the Monthly Word, and we place their full stories onto our web site for you to enjoy.
