Does St. Matthew’s Offer Childcare? Quality Care for your Children is available from 8:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Nurseries for children 0-18 months are located in Huffman Hall on the parking lot side of the hallway. The nursery for children 18 months - 4 years is in the Education Building. There is also a comfortable, soundproof room upstairs for adults who wish to keep their babies with them during the service.

Please Help Me! When life's challenges take center stage, we encourage you to call on your St. Matthew's family for love, prayer, the support of a friend, or a meal in time of need. *today (and every Sunday) Prayer Teams are available during Communion at Prayer Stations on either side of the sanctuary. One station is located on the east side, by the windows, and the other station is on the west side in the gallery. Prayer requests and discussion are completely confidential.

*today Sign up continues in the Commons for the Parish Luncheon on Sunday, October 6 to honor our New Members! This luncheon is sponsored by the Newcomers Council who needs your advance reservation by Sunday, September 29. Sign up today so we will know how much lunch to order! For information please see Dedee Norman or Jeri Muhich in the Commons after the service.

*Visitor’s Orientation will be held every other week. At that time one of the priests will meet with you to greet and answer questions you may have. If you are visiting today and would like to know more about St. Matthew’s and what it has to offer you, please gather at the front of the sanctuary NEXT WEEK immediately after the 10:30 service.

Tomorrow is the Celebration of a New Ministry service at 6:30 p.m. at which time Bishop James Brown will officially install Merrill Wade as seventh rector of St. Matthew’s. This festive service (found on BCP p. 559) will allow us to officially welcome Merrill and embrace him as our new rector. And, thanks to Louise Waddill and her committee, a lovely reception in Huffman Hall will follow the service. Lets honor Merrill with a huge turnout! See you there!

*At the Celebration of a New Ministry (tomorrow evening at 6:30 p.m.) the

offering will be used to establish the Rector’s Discretionary Fund. This fund will be used confidentially by the Rector to support church members and others in times of financial crisis, and occasionally, to support the needs of local ministry agencies or unbudgeted ministry expenses of the Rector. Please make your checks payable to St. Matthew’s Church, Memo: Rector’s Discretionary Fund.

RECEPTION MONDAY EVENING, SEPTEMBER 23. The Hospitality Committee still needs your help. Here is what is needed: 8 more people to make 3 dozen each dessert pieces; please put them on a serving dish, wrap well and bring to kitchen by 6 p.m. on monday, september 23. Please call or e-mail Louise Waddill if you can make or furnish some of the above. We also need help at the event so let Louise know if you can help. *The Xplorers, a fellowship/study group for young adults, invites you to join us after 10:30 church NEXT Sunday for a potluck lunch (visitors, no dish necessary!) and our continuing informal study of John's gospel. *Parish Luncheon to Meet Our New Members, Sunday, October 6. Everyone is invited to have a delicious, elegant lunch after church on Sunday, Oct. 6, to welcome our new members. Needed: At least 20 people to bake scrumptious desserts that will feed 12-15 people. Cooking for others truly is an act of love and St. Matthew's is full of loving people, who are also extremely talented bakers. So please let me (Debbie Meleski) know by phone 327-5265, e-mail, dkm@ctw.com or by telling me at church, if you can assist with the dessert baking. Let's thrill some taste buds and show our newcomers how delighted we are that they are here!

Please keep bringing those wonderful garage sale items for the Youth and Nursery Garage sale on October 26th. The more inventory we have, the better chances for a great sale. Please place the items behind the partition in Huffman Hall marked "garage sale." They will be moved to a storage cite on campus. Thanks in advance for all the great donations! Tracey and Eric

Training Session For New Candidates For Daughters Of The King: Do you feel called to a ministry of prayer? Could you commit to a lifelong program of prayer, service and personal evangelism—dedicated to the extension of Christ’s Kingdom? That in a "nutshell" is what the Order of The Daughters of The King is all about. Any woman who is a member of the Episcopal Church can become a Daughter. We will be starting a training session for new candidates in the near future. The National Study Guide serves as the framework for the training. Mom's Ministry St. Matthew's cordially invites all Moms who need a mid-week break to come make new friends, meet with old, and get spiritually recharged for one of the toughest jobs around. The group has just started back up again this fall and meets every Wednesday from 9:30-11:30 in Room B-14. Childcare is provided, the class is free, and if you miss breakfast you can grab a snack. T'AI CHI - FREE LESSONS. In response to those expressing interest in T'ai Chi but unable to attend SAC's program (now in its 8th year), Young at Heart offers free instruction to ALL interested church members in a series of three lessons (9:00-10:30 AM, Saturday Oct. 5, 12 and 19 in B21). Persons completing the course MAY, if they wish, purchase a video tape for home use. The tape is a service for those who have taken instruction and is sold at cost of reproduction without profit.
