Quality Care for your Children is available from 8:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Nurseries for children 0-18 months are located in Huffman Hall on the parking lot side of the hallway. The nursery for children 18 months - 4 years is in the Education Building. There is also a comfortable, soundproof room upstairs for adults who wish to keep their babies with them during the service.
When you feel the need for personal attention we encourage you to call on your St. Matthew's family for love, prayer, the support of a friend, or a meal in time of need. With loving respect and confidentiality, we offer these and many other pastoral care services to our church family. Contact the church office, 345-8314, with needs and requests. St. Matthew’s Boy Scout Troop 511 continues its annual fundraiser by taking orders for fresh Christmas greenery from the mountains of the Pacific Northwest following services in October. Greenery items include wreaths, garlands, door swags and other festive holiday greens and will be delivered, fresh to you, in early December.*today
Visitor’s Orientation will be held this morning. If you are visiting today and would like to know more about St. Matthew’s and what it has to offer you, please gather with The Rev. Susan Barnes at the front of the sanctuary immediately after the 10:30 service for a brief orientation.*today
*Training Session For New Candidates For Daughters Of The King will begin this morning, October 13, from 9 – 10 a.m. in B-6. The training program will last 6 to 8 weeks and we will meet at the same time each week. To facilitate our discussions there will be some homework. The Xplorers, a fellowship/study group for young adults, invites you to join us after 10:30 church today for a potluck lunch (visitors, no dish necessary!) and our continuing informal study of John's gospel. *Let There Be Peace In Our Time is one of the reasons for such as our Jewish-Christian Relations Group. Jim Crosby of St. Stephen's Episcopal School will be presenting a special program on Peace at our regular meeting Tuesday, October 15, in Room B-21, 7:00 p.m. All are cordially invited.
*OUTREACH COMMISSION will have its regularly scheduled meeting Thursday, Oct. 17, 5:30 p.m., in B-14 to discuss the budget for outreach and mission work at St. Matthew's for the year 2003. All are welcome. For information, call Holly Decherd, 328-3944.
Celebrate Fall with the St. Matthew's Day School children and their families. Please join us on Friday, October 18th from 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. for Fall Fest, featuring a Bar-B-Q Dinner and Children's Activities. This event serves as the fall fundraiser for the Day School and tickets may be purchased in advance or at the event. In addition to the fantastic children's booths, there will be a raffle, bake sale AND you may order a brisket from the St. Matthew's Holy Smokers! Nursery/Youth Garage Sale Fund Raiser, Saturday, Oct. 26, 7:30 a.m. Noon in Huffman Hall. Proceeds benefit the St. Matthew's Nursery and the Youth Group. Bring donated items to Huffman Hall in the office next to the infant nursery. Help! Volunteers needed to assist with the sale. All volunteers get first "dibs" on garage sale items. *Commemoration of the Faithful Departed Those wishing to have the names of departed family members printed on a special prayer list for All Saints Day, Sunday, November 3, simply fill out a card in the Commons. Completed cards may be dropped in the offering plate or left in the designated basket in the Commons. If you prefer, you may email your names to betty@stmattsaustin.org Names received through 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 30 will be printed.
The next time Baptism will be offered at St. Matthew’s will be on Sunday, November 3, All Saints’ Sunday. If you or your child desire to receive the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, please give Betty Mitchell a call in the church office, 345-8314 x 215.
Construction on our new, custom-designed sound system is underway. Last Monday work began on the installation of the new system. This work will take 3-5 weeks to finish. The sanctuary will be in various states of construction throughout the process.
Mom's Ministry St. Matthew's cordially invites all Moms who need a mid-week break to come make new friends, meet with old, and get spiritually recharged for one of the toughest jobs around. The group has just started back up again this fall and meets every Wednesday from 9:30-11:30 in Room B-14. Childcare is provided, the class is free, and if you miss breakfast you can grab a snack. Episcopal Church Women in Action
ECW Dessert Buffet is scheduled for tomorrow Monday, Oct. 14 at 6:30 in Huffman Hall. We will begin with desserts – many desserts!! Then Ellen Sanchez from SafePlace of Austin will speak. $3 per person. Please feel free to bring friends and neighbors to what should be a very enlightening evening.
ECW Heartfelt thanks to each of the 21 people who decorated the ECW "Goodie Bags." Your help is greatly appreciated! Now!! There is just one more step left. We again need help to put the information and "Goodies" in the bags. We will do this on Wednesday, October 16, at 1:00 p.m. in Huffman Hall. ECW A Gathering of Scissors will occur on Friday, October 18. The Decorations Committee of the ECW will be meeting to work on the table centerpieces for the Annual Meeting. Come at noon to the ECW work room in Huffman Hall and bring your lunch if you wish. Your efforts are very "muchly" appreciated.
ECW Women of St. Matthew's: Time to register for a wonderful weekend at Camp Allen, the ECW 101st Diocesan Annual Meeting! Registration forms and brochures are in the Commons. Friday noon, Nov. 1 through Saturday lunch, Nov. 2. Workshops, exhibits (and shopping), worship, and great speakers. This year, St. Matthew's ECW is the host chapter and Jo Ann Grandjean is the chair. Early bird registration deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 15. Forms and money should be sent to Peggy Ryder.
