Excellent, Experienced Child Care for Your Young Children is Offered from 7:45 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. Nurseries for children 0-18 months are located in Huffman Hall on the parking lot side of the hallway. The nursery for children 18 months - 4 years is in the Education Building. There is also a comfortable, soundproof room upstairs for adults who wish to keep their babies with them during the service.

Home Delivery of Holy Communion If you are unable to come to church and would like Holy Communion brought to you on Sunday, please call Jim Sparks at 345-7757.

Thanks for Wearing Your Nametag! If you need a new nametag please see Dedee Norman at the Welcome Table in the Commons right after church. Thanks for faithfully wearing your nametag each and every Sunday.

Personal Prayer Teams are available during Communion at Prayer Stations on either side of the sanctuary. One station is located on the east side, by the windows, and the other station is on the west side in the gallery. Prayer requests and discussion are completely confidential.

The Good Samaritans Ministry offers love in the form of a hot meal for you and your family if you are in the hospital, sick, or recovering from adversity. In addition, other pastoral care services are available if you will just call the church office, 345-8314 with your needs and requests. In case of emergency, St. Matthew’s clergy may be reached by calling 771-0680.

Visitor’s Orientation will be held every other week. At that time one of the priests will meet with you to greet and answer questions you may have. If you are visiting and would like to know more about St. Matthew’s and what it has to offer you, please gather at the front of the sanctuary NEXT WEEK immediately after the 10:30 service.

TODAY Adult Sunday School Classes will not meet – but will gather in Huffman Hall for coffee and fellowship. During the fellowship time you will be given a preview of the new series of classes to begin on October 26.

TODAY The Xplorers, a fellowship/study group for young adults, continue our fall schedule today with a potluck lunch and an informal discussion on Biblical literalism/revisionism in our Tough Topics and the Bible study led by Xplorer Philip Hardin. Come over to Huffman Hall after the 10:30 service and eat lunch with us (visitors always welcome; don't worry about bringing a dish!), then stay for our informal study if you like. TODAY Troop 511 is now taking orders for fresh Christmas greenery through the end of October.  Please stop by their table on the sidewalk by the West door of the sanctuary and place your order. Delivery will be early in December.  If you miss the scouts on Sunday, or want more information call Liz O'Quin at 255-0347.

*Have you seen the Prayer Books (BCP) that were stored on the white shelves in B-13? These Prayer Books were purchased by Children's Ministry funds and are used by the children regularly; they should not be removed! If you are aware of where these BCP are, please contact the Church Office or Children's Ministry Office ASAP. Thanks.

*The Church Office support staff will be out of town at a training school on Tuesday, October 21. If you need to speak with Barbara, Margaret, Dedee or Betty, please just leave a voice mail message and we will return your calls on Wednesday, October 22.

*Helpful Reminder to Parents of Children, age 3 yrs. - 3rd grade - Children who arrive at church after 10 a.m. need to remain with their parents for coffee time and for the beginning of the service.  Once the service has begun, an acolyte will process down the center aisle and lead all interested children to Chapel. *The Jewish-Christian Relations Group's meeting this month will be at Congregation Beth Israel’s new educational building on Tuesday, October 21. Rabbi Benjamin Sternman, the assistant rabbi, will talk on "Becoming a Rabbi" and give us a tour of Beth Israel’s facilities. If you are interested in deeper understanding and should care to attend, you will need instructions for entering the building. *ENNEAGRAM II A model for spiritual growth and the key to understanding your gifts and compulsions. Friday, October 24, 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. and Saturday, October 25, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at St. David’s Church. $50 registration includes lunch on Saturday. *Diocesan Commitment decisions will be addressed by the Outreach Commission on Thursday evening Oct. 23 at 5:30 in B-14, at their regular meeting.  Your opinions are welcome about how we at St. Matthew's would prefer our giving to the Diocese be allocated.  The meeting will be longer than usual and include supper.

*Youth: Like hockey and good Christian music? Come with us to the Among Thorns concert and Ice Bats game Saturday, October 25. We'll meet up at St. Matt's at 4:45 p.m. to drive over to the Exposition Center for the 5:30 concert. Hockey game follows; we should return to St. Matt's around 10/10:30. It's $10, but we need to buy tickets in advance, so please call ASAP to get your name on the list! You will also need to bring an event permission slip and money for food. *There are a few packages of the St. Matthew’s "window cards" left and the ECW will be selling these in the Commons. Why not stop by and look them over! They make lovely gifts and are special for all kinds of greetings.

*The Fall 2003 Discovery Class will begin on Sunday morning, October 26, at 9:00 a.m., taught by the Rector and Seminarian Tim Watts. An interesting class at a convenient time! If you desire to know more about the Episcopal Church and St. Matthew’s and/or you wish to be confirmed in December when Bishop Daniels visits, then this class is a must. A sign up sheet is available today at the Visitor’s Table in the Commons.

*Sunday, November 2 is when we observe All Saint’s Day. A special prayer request bulletin insert that day will list names of our loved ones who have died. In the Commons, you will find a basket containing cards where you may list the names of those in your family you wish to have listed. Fill out a card and return it to the basket. All names received by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, will be printed. Please print legibly and include your own name so that we may call if we can’t read your writing! Or, you may email your names to betty@stmattsaustin.org

*Parish Get Acquainted Lunch Sunday, November 9. Mark your calendar to attend a delicious, catered lunch after the 10:30 service. The purpose of the luncheon is to give all of us a chance to welcome and visit with new members and with each other. This event is sponsored by the Newcomer’s Council. For food ordering purposes, please sign up for the luncheon at the Welcome Table in the Commons, or call the church office at 345-8314 or email your RSVP before November 2 to jerim@austin.rr.com There is no charge for the meal, but donations are certainly welcome. Please don’t miss this opportunity to welcome our newest members. Everyone is invited. Hope to see you there!

*The Episcopal Church Women (ECW) of St. Matthew’s present Wendy Wimberly, wife of the Bishop of Texas, as featured speaker on November 14 and 15. This event will be an in-house retreat (in Huffman Hall) beginning Friday at dinner. Reservations are a must; childcare is available as are scholarships.
